My son Mark loves going to school to in a "castle". The activities are always so interesting and the teachers are wonderful! I am so thankful this opportunity was available in Elgin. The experience has definitely prepared him for when he starts school. ~L.D. Our son Caelan has loved this school since turning 2! Can't believe he will be heading to 'big school' in the Fall but we feel he is ready in huge part to this amazing school....I also attended this school many moons ago!! ~F.C. Our son started part-time at Elgin District Co-op Nursery School in the fall. He's enjoyed it so much we decided to go full-time (2 mornings/week) after the Christmas break. Jack has grown so much since attending EDCNS. At home, Jack is constantly singing songs he's learned (even teaching us a few), bringing home artwork/crafts and telling us all the fun he had with his new friends. The teachers are great, hard-working and have a genuine interest in all the children and their development. We are so happy with our decision to send our son, Jack, to EDCNS and we won't hesitate to enroll our second child, Ben, when he's old enough. ~C.S. |
It feels funny writing a review and being a teacher at the Nursery School. However, all four of my children have attended and loved being there. It is a nice way to get them ready for kindergarten. ~G.L. My daughter Teagan has blossomed in so many ways since attending this school! Thank you so much EDNS! ~J.C. my oldest daughter has blossomed so much this past school year! thanks to the great staff! happy to say I will be sending my baby this September. ~C.R. |
All of my children attended the EDCNS and as their parent I remember all of the fun times I had as a volunteer parent. Never did I expect that many years later I would be a teacher at this very same school. I can tell you from personal experience the huge positive impact it had on our program to have parents or grandparents who were committed to signing up for a day or two a month to share their special skills or even just to be an extra set of hands. I remember so clearly one dad coming in who I thought was going to be too shy to participate in such a boisterous environment and who looked quite uncomfortable when he first came in to the classroom. He spent most of the morning on the floor with 6 little boys gathered around him "playing cars". They used the wooden blocks, animals, garage and even some dolls to add to their project as the discovery continued. This dad, without any forethought made that morning at nursery school a very rewarding learning experience for those little boys involved. You could also tell by the expression on his face that he had thoroughly enjoyed his morning, not only with his own son but with all of the other boys at the school. Parent volunteers are the backbone of a co-operative nursery school. ~L.B.
